Get in the Spirit of Halloween

Entertainment Family General Living

The end of October welcomes a very fun, very spooky time of year. Between trick-or-treating with the kids, exciting events, haunted houses, and lots of candy, there’s no doubt that memories are made at Halloween! To get you into the Halloween mood, we’ve come up with some great, family festivities in the Delta area.

Frankenweek

First of all, what better way to get in the spooky mood than with a classic Halloween movie? Be sure to celebrate “Frankenweek” at the Delta Library Branches to watch the free screening of the 1958 movie, Frankenstein’s Daughter! Adapted from Marry Shelley’s classic novel, this horror movie is perfect for teens and adults who want to get a little spooked this season. Viewing is offered at 7:00 PM at the Tsawwassen Library on October 29th and at the Ladner Pioneer Library on October 30th. The Tsawwassen Library has also put up a green screen now through the 31st. Bring your kids to take a picture in their costumes with a special background!

Ladner Village’s Third Annual Scarecrow Contest

Finally, if you also like contests, check out the Third Annual Scarecrow Contest put on by Ladner Village! Shops participating have ornamented their store-fronts with spooky scarecrows and Halloween-themed decorations. Take the kids for an exciting viewing of the shops and pick your family favourites! Next, stop by Stir Coffee House or Localz Urban Café to vote for who you think should win! You can also share a photo using this year’s hashtag: #ladnerscares2018. The contest ends on October 31st at midnight, so make sure you don’t miss out!
